The works you will encounter at the Starry Night Soirée were selected by a local jury seeking a rich and diverse range of styles, mediums, and stories from across Dakota County — from painting and photography to ceramics, textiles, fiber arts, and beyond. What unites them is not a shared aesthetic, but a shared question: What does a starry night mean to you? The answers are as individual as the artists who made them.

Meet the makers behind the work

Each selected artist will be present throughout the evening, near their work and ready to share the story behind it. This is not a passive gallery experience. It is a conversation — between artist and audience, between craft and community. Scan the interactive QR codes placed next to each artwork for an instant look at the artist's inspiration, process, and links to connect with them long after the evening ends.

Cast your vote for the Constellation Award

Every attendee receives yellow star stickers upon entry. As you move through the exhibition and speak with the artists, place your stars beside the pieces that move you most. By the end of the evening, the work surrounded by a constellation of stars wins the Constellation Award — our People's Choice (Vox Populi) honor. Your voice shapes the outcome.

Arts Awards celebrating local excellence

The evening includes a suite of Arts Awards recognizing outstanding work across the exhibition. The North Star Award honors the guiding piece of the show as selected by the jury. Rising Luminaries recognizes artists of exceptional promise. These are not just simple accolades — they are meaningful recognition from a community that shows up for its creative people.

The Dakota County Reflection Board

Tucked into the DCA table, you will find an interactive prompt station inviting you to share your own story. Where is your favorite stargazing spot in Dakota County? What does art mean to you here in Dakota County? These responses become part of something larger — a living record of what this community values, and why the arts belong at the center of it.

Live music, hands-on art making, and local treats throughout Eagan Art House

The Starry Night Soirée is a full sensory experience presented and hosted by the Eagan Art House. Live music sets the tone for the evening while hands-on art-making invites guests of every age to create something of their own. Local treats bring the warmth of the community table to the room. This is an evening designed to linger in — unhurried, and welcoming.

Free admission, all ages welcome

There is no cost to attend. The Starry Night Soirée is open to the entire community — children, families, longtime art lovers, and first-time gallery visitors alike. Art should be accessible to everyone. This evening is built on that belief.
